Medicare Supplement Insurance

Medicare Supplement Insurance is just what it sounds like; it is insurance coverage that supplements the benefits a senior member receives through Medicare. Medicare provides important benefits for hospital and doctor expenses, however Medicare does not cover 100% of your expenses. That is where a Medicare Supplement Insurance certificate can help

Medicare Supplement Insurance, also known as Medigap insurance, must follow federal and state laws and does not work with any other type of health insurance, including Medicare Advantage Plans, stand-alone Medicare Prescription Drug Plans, employer/union group health coverage, Medicaid, Veterans Administration (VA) benefits, or TRICARE. Insurance companies, including Assured Life Association, can only sell you a standardized Medigap policy identified by letters A through M. Each standardized Medigap policy must offer the same basic benefits, no matter which insurance company sells it. Cost is usually the only difference between Medigap policies sold by different insurance companies.

Our society currently offers 7 different Medicare Supplement plans, depending upon the state in which you live, all with slightly different benefits and premiums. Premiums are dependent upon where you live.

Facts on Aging

Per the Arthritis Foundation, knee replacement surgeries have increased by 188 percent over the last 10 years in Americans aged 45–64. These surgeries are not easy procedures, either. They require weeks of recovery time, and some patients report having residual pain for as long as a year after the surgery.
