District Reporting

September 27, 2008 changes to the Society's Bylaws retained Districts in its organizational structure. Specifically, the bylaws provide that Chapters of the Society may organize together geographically for social, ethnic or business purposes. Districts, like chapters shall be characterized as subordinate bodies of the Society. As a result of this change, Districts will now be required to file a report with the home office following their District meeting.

Facts on Aging

Per Sherrie Mcgregor, Ph.D. (PsychCentral), exercise programs do generally produce improvements, often dramatic ones, even among very elderly participants. For example, one researcher reported that 80-year olds and 90-year olds who had completed a 10-week strength-training program showed more than a 100 percent increase in their strength, and significant increases in their walking speed and stair climbing ability.
